The final stretch towards fall

Summer's in the bag, though it seems to be going out with a bang here in Stowe. It's a blue bird 75-degree day as I'm sitting outside in my backyard typing this. The mornings are definitely getting chillier, however, with a thick layer of fog covering the Stowe Valley each morning. Those of you who know me (or at least my photography habits) a little, know that fog is my absolute favorite. It just adds that magic touch to any photo. Since we get a lot of it this time of year, it also makes me think of plaid button-down shirts and pumpkin-flavored coffee. (I'm just that kind of guy.)

Here and there, pockets of color are starting to emerge, though the vast majority of trees are still green for now. But before I get ready for an intense few weeks featuring lots of photography and posting on social media, let me share with you a few images from an out-of-state trip I took recently. It was more of a relaxing vacay than a photography-related trip, but I came back with a few nice images nonetheless.

My destination was California, and the Big Sur area in particular. We hit Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Pfeiffer Beach, and Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, among many other locations, and it was spectacular.

Even when you live in Stowe, Vermont, it's nice sometimes to get out of dodge for a change of scenery. This was (I'm ashamed to admit) my first time in California, and what a gorgeous place it is. I don't usually publish images which are not Stowe (nor will they be put up for sale in my print shop), but I was quite excited about these nonetheless and felt like sharing. See the image grid below for some photos of my trip.

And now, onwards to fall! I'm pumped to be out on the road. After a beautiful summer, we're ready for crisper mornings, for that "second spring when every leaf is a flower". Hope you all get to enjoy!

Note: I received quite a few inquiries about prints of my solar eclipse photos. Unfortunately, I was forced to crop these images significantly in order to get "closer" to the sun, not leaving enough data for good prints. I adhere to the highest quality standards and cannot bring myself to selling subpar, pixelated prints. I hope you understand!
